    Found this coin at a yard sale, and it appears to be silver and made into a pendant.Have been researching it but have not had much luck. It seems to be from the middle east or India,but cant get a positive id.Thought someone here may know,Thanks in advance. bobs coin.jpg

    1233AH = 1817CE

    Probably Indian Princely State. The 9 at the right of the date on Side A may indicate 9th year of someone's reign making the actual coin date 1241AH (1825).

    I suspect that Side B is upside down. If so, that's "26" above the fish and what may be the representation of a wave.

    There are several pages of generally similar coins in the 19th Century volume of Krause, which I'm not about to wade through looking for a match. If it were mine, and I didn't have Krause, I'd visit my neighborhood public library and use their copy.

    According to Hontonai's hint ( thanks ! ), i have made some research in the Krause and found a matching depiction:
    see AWADH state in the Indian Princely States , from mint Muhammadabad Banaras ( Lucknow Mint )KM 102 or 103 Ruppee in the name of Shah Alam II

    Here is the pic from the book, the fish is more like a crayfish actually :smile
