I was just wondering if someone can help me find some resources for paper currency? I come in contact with many $100 straps of $1 bills and have taken to searching them recently, i would like to know where i can get info about how many were printed and such. Also today i came across 17 1980s $100 bills, they were not circulated but many were not bad at all, should i have kept those? what is considered an old note???
You need to get the book on small US currency Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money 1928-to date, by John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist. Next, for all US currency the book is Comprehensive Catalog of U.S. Paper Money by Gene Hessler. Then you have Bank Note Reporter, which is a newspaper mag that comes out by monthly. To get to know how to grade currency the book by Herbert J. Kwart, "United States Paper Money Grading Standard" is a good one too. On star notes only, most information will be in Bank Note Reporter and the book by Schwartz and Lindquist are good as to value and minted numbers. Good luck.:thumb:
At U.S.Papermoney.info, click on BLOCK AND GROUP LISTS to bring up a screen with more choices. Click in the letter G for total runs and production totals. On the SERIAL NUMBER TABLES, click on that title (not subtitle) to bring up SERIAL NUMBER RANGES. Click on any demonination on the right side of the screen.
