I love your taste in world gold, Doug, nice coins, will be looking for some to pick up as soon as I know what I'm dealing with.

For $300 , in U.S. coins, you will be lucky to find a MS-60 -61 $5 Liberty Head Eagle.
    U. S. gold coins are very expensive. Especially the Indian head & $1 type two and three dollar pieces.
Listen very carefully what Doug has to say, for he has great taste and knowledge in world coins.

World gold is very under priced, and for a reasonable amount you can pick up an older piece with a beautiful design.
If you are looking for investment, U.S. is probably the better way to go.But expect to s[pend at least $900-$1000 for a common ms-63 $2.5 Liberty, $5 Liberty, Saint, $1 type one and three, $20 liberty. All of the other designs and demoninations are quite expensive. Type 2 $1, $2.5 & $5 & $10 Indian designs, as well as the famed $ 3 gold piece.(expect to spend $1500- $3500))

The best buy deffinately is with world gold, with some beautiful designs and reasonably priced.

    Hope this helps

Don't go trying to drag me into this.....I have world coins but I don't collect them :D I just keep them in flips and stored really nice :D :D
And yes I even bought one of the gold ducats....but I had to sell it later to buy part of a business....but I will say this---the coin did pretty good for me as I made a proffit and I had only kept it a few months.
I don't know what it is but I would kindof like to get another one :D :D :D

As one struck with both ailments I can say YES... Gold is so lustrous and pretty once you buy one you will keep going for more. Expect to pay some high prices for anything of good quality.

I got interested in gold coins a couple of years ago, since I finally was able to afford to purchase some. The very first gold coin that I purchased was a nice quarter eagle on ebay. I was extremely disappointed when I received it because I had no idea of just how small they are. Everytime I had seen pictures of gold coins, they seemed to be of moderate to large size. Quarter eagles are about 1 millimeter bigger than a dime.

I've since bought all different size bullions (Pandas, Kruggerrands, American Eagles), along with some spanish gold doubloons, and other denominations of american circulated gold, such as half eagles and $10 eagles.

What I have ended up being satisfied with are the half eagles. They are large enough to appreciate and yet they are not too expensive to where I have to save for forever to get a different one. I've ended up selling most of my bullion and getting half eagles instead. I've got one classic head, several type 2 liberties, and one indian.

Those Panda's are great. Women love them. Thats the one coin my girl adores and wants more of. Need all the help I can get when spending the kind of money it takes to purchase gold. Sometimes I wonder if this 'gold' fever is the same many experienced in the 40's! :)

I'm getting gold bullion from my grandma. Today I bought a 1904P gold $10 liberty eagle for $350. (XF/AU condition)

I find half eagles small for me...doubles are too big...I like the size of an eagle...27mm
