I was reading a 1964 American Standard Coin Book and ran across this article about the 1943 copper cent. I guess the coin was just found before the publication of the book. I wonder how much it ended of being sold for. That's a heck of a find. I blew up the text. Enjoy
I have several ofthe copper plated ones and used to think it was just a big joke that realy ones existed.
Highest realized price I can think of was for the single D example - sold for $212,000 if memory serves. Several others have sold for over $100,000.
