1920 nickel error?

    It looks like it may be a minor retained lamination error, but it's extremely difficult to tell with the photos you have provided.

    Is there any way you could get a couple of macro shots of the area-in-question?

    I think it's die deterioration. Possibly cracked or impact damage to the die. :welcome:
