Found this the other day, and just got around to taking some pics of it. It has some type of texture look (Hard to see in the pics, I can try to get close-ups if they are needed), and no rim (It seems to have been minted this way??), and is smaller than other Wheaties. Is this PMD?
Is the edge struck or are there any grinding or sanding marks around the edge? Have you weighed your coin?
I haven't weighed it, as I do not have a scale. It doesn't look like there are any grinding marks, seems to be pretty smooth, just like a coin's rim would be, but on this, it is like the rim was never there in the first place.
It would help if you could get an accurate weight of the coin (to the nearest 0.01 grams) so we could tell if any metal has been removed (e.g., by grinding or sanding).
I will see if my Grandma can weight it at her work, she has a mail scale thing, and it seemed to hit the smaller numbers. Any other ideas on what scales to use? Here is how it looks on top of a regular cent. (They are aligned perfectly on the bottom half, but you can see that it is smaller.
Postage scales are accurate to .1 oz or about 3 grams so they can't really tel you anything. From the last set of pictures I agree with the acid soak.
