How so? I clicked the link and came to the auction site. Who's to say someone else (from this site) won't do the same thing and contemplate bidding on that that piece? Borders big time on self promotion. If that wasn't your intention I'd edit it out.....

I strongly disagree that there is any intention to promote. I have never gotten any significant bids on an auction lot after posting here or elsewhere. If there is a way to post the image without auction reference then I would be glad to do it, I am not adept at it. Just because others want to impute commercial or ulterior motives does not mean anything.

For the record: I paid over $100 for the coin. Grading fee was $18. Listing and auction fee are significant. And I am trying to promote the coin? Are you kidding me??? This is not a significant item, green!

Well, I see the Mods thought it inappropriate for this thread as the link has been edited out.

I rarely buy non-toned coins, however I just couldn't resist this PCGS PR69 DCAM Buffalo Silver Dollar. The TrueView photo displays fields that are so mirrored that it looks like the devices are floating in a pool of liquid mercury (or liquid metal from the Terminator 2 movie). Every time I look at this coin I think, "So that's what the detail on the Buffalo Nickel was supposed to look like". Click on the image (to zoom it to full size) and take a look at the detail of the fur on the Buffalo's back and head (that's a wow and a half). And I like the fact that they choose the 1913 "Buffalo on the Mound" version for this commemorative.

    2012 Sacagawea....WOW

Just received my 2012 proof set...I have to say the Mint has stepped it up on design selection this year. I truely like several of the quarters (El Yunque especially)...but the new reverse on the Sacagawea dollar...this may be one of the best designs ever in my opinion...love it!!! Need to get a better picture...but this quick one will suffice for now. What does everyone else think?

Very nice shot Howabout'. The computer etching on these pieces is abhorred by many but I rather like it.......:)

I don't care for the loss of detail in the frosted laser etched coins, but I really do like that design!

I picked up another Mel Wacks counter Struck IKE! Fewer than 1,000 pieces were produced according to Mr. Wacks.

Here's a new $20 to add to my collection, 1929 National Note. Thanks to camlov2 I was able to buy this one and possibly more. Of course, that will be when I get some more dollars in my pocket. :D

Well, I am heading to my Dad's house soon for a BBQ. He said I can take a look at his small collection, and maybe even make some trades. He doesn't actively collect anymore, this is just what he has left over from years and years ago. Maybe I can get some sweet deals and make sure to keep the coins in the family at the same time! Wish me luck! I will post pictures of whatever I happen to trade for.

Ive had this for awhile but I give up trying to ID it myself due to the endless amounts of symbols the reverse can have. So the ruler is ? at this time.

An Alexander III Drachm, possibly 3xx B.C.

I just got this TrueView photo back from PCGS late last week. Attractive toned Peace Dollars are a rarity (much rarer than toned Morgan Dollars). This one has some cool one-sided color that I think was probably produced by the coin being stored in a U.S. Mint canvas bag (probably in a bank vault) for many years. The color variation is quite good for a Peace dollar and displays shades of green, gold, red, and pink -- though the transitions are a bit blotchy (not smooth). This was already slabbed by PCGS as MS64+ when I bought it in an open eBay auction for $229 back in April (a roughly 3x toning premium). The seller later told me he paid $350 when he bought it, though I am not sure when that was.

I am a complete dope when it comes to toned coins. All I know is they look pretty (well...the real ones do at least), and that they cost more than I care to pay at the moment, but thanks to people like you, wingedliberty and others here, my eyes are graced by the site of some BEAUTIFUL examples! Stunning addition!
