As in subject - does anybody know gold content in Spanish pistolet coin struck in 16th century? If so, please provide with literature sources
I found an answer - gold content in Spanish pistolet was "21 carats and 10 grains" means 0,910 (0,9097 precisely), much lower that 0,986 from gold ducats from similar period. Source: Marie G. A. de Man, ''La numismatique du siège de Middelbourg de 1572 a 1574'' (page 451) Article was published in the 58th issue of "Revue Belge de Numismatique" from 1902.
Hehe, Doug, you got no idea how great is literature I got here I think I have to send you a photo of this library some time... Btw, maybe we should consider to open a kind of HelpDesk area on Coin Talk Forum for users looking for precise answer for short question like in subject of my post above? Or maybe it already exists, but I missed that. To all of you guys - if you have any questions in area of old gold European coinage (Dutch ducats and Benelux gold coins preferred), just ask here, I will do my best to help you.
