http://whitman.com/news/On-Becoming-a-Coin-Dealer+1520 I sent this to Bowers a while back and he posted it on the Whitman website. I thought it was kinda neat.
I saw that QDB has a daily column now on the Whitman site...very cool indeed. Are you buying any Afghan coins? TC
Good luck in your future endeavor, Joseph, and it's always fun to catch the eye of the experts. Good for you.
Congratulations Joseph on having your letter published. I've contacted Dave Bowers a number of times over the years, and he's always been gracious and helpful. He's one of the really nice people in our hobby. Also, the best of luck to you in your venture. Bruce
I'm confused. Was it not more than 2 weeks ago that were were returning Stacks's coin because you were unhappy with their business practices? Mandy
I'm sorry then. I apologize. Someone from Afghanistan just returned a coin to Stacks and complained about their business practices, along with picture evidence. So i was confused. On a different note, you should be very excited about becoming a coin dealer. I spent many years of my life dealing and trading in fine arts. It was very satisfying, both in the education and training I received, and the thrill of discovery and the joy of making others happy. Grab hold of the opportunity and may it fill your life as it has mine. Mandy
You might be referring to this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t204973/ In this thread I was talking about an Ebay seller who purchased problem coins from Stacks, but I was not complaining about Stacks. Only the seller on Ebay.
