    Any chance for MS?

  6. Columbo: "Just one more thing: Why is that coin an XF and not AU?" :D :smile. TC

You talking about the black on the bottom or the scratch? The black is actually toning just shows up like that under light.

The scratch. Sorry. I should have said.

    Xf-45.....

There appears to be wear on the eyebrows and cheek (obv.) and also the hair in back of the forehead.

XF-45. No chance at MS whatsoever. Take a look at the cheek and see the wear. MS means it has none.

Also signs of cleaning. So I shall say Genuine

I said AU from seeing it on my laptop. Now that I'm home on the pc, it looks XF-45. Really like the reverse.

XF-45. These are low cost commemoratives, even if they are the first ones. $10-20 max. IMO.

Looks like a nice nick left of "Columbo's" eye.

Detecto, dear fellow, you've got to come to a decision as to what you really want to do with this hobby. You're a tad bit wet behind the ears to be selling anything. My advice to you would be to collect fine pieces (like this marvelous Columbian) and study the series. You're all over the place. Buy, sell.....stick to collecting for awhile. Selling comes later.

its an xf piece but i would keep it buddy. just like green said, its a 14.00 coin so your not exactly going to get rich after selling it, you might be able to buy a burger and some fries though :p

I would say no. The wear on the cheek and hair seems readily visible.

It's really not much better than junk silver, but I'd certainly hold it instead of a 64 Kennedy or a Franklin, or even a common WLH.
