This image is of the recently graded 1909 S VDB Lincoln cent which I got graded from PCGS. This coin is presently on Great Collection auction - 92 Cleaned--- PCGS Genuine Unc details Is this image acceptable...
I thought for a long time about what to submit. I decided on a Russian coin about the size of a US quarter dollar (specifically, this is a 1915 Russian 15 Kopek). Be sure to click on the image, and then click on the image again to see the full size coin image (and all of the details). The coin also has some nice die polishing detail, which you can see clearly on the full sized image.
Picking one coin is an impossible task. I wish I had submitted this photo but I felt compelled to post a Jefferson.
Holy cow!! There are some amazing ones out there (robec, gbroke, etc.). With my small collection, I couldn't really muster such amazing toners as yours. However, for my submission I found it fitting to photograph the first cent that started off my collection -- this 1909 VDB. It still amazes me with its amazing reverse woody-brown and moss patina!
My 1690 gun money (with some very minor edits cropped etc) Thanks for the contest (some great pics too)
I usually shoot landscapes, but have wanted to start shooting some coins. My copy stand arrived just two days ago. Anyway, this is my first shot at coin photography, and it is my favorite coin. A NGC MS66 Lib Seated Dime. If anyone wants to check out my landscape stuff, you can look at it here. www.thejerseylandscape.com Mike
Great contest - these pictures are great. I say whoever wins has to post a how-to thread. I know there are a bunch of them on CT already - and I've read a bunch of them but those of you posting in this thread clearly know what you're doing.
Lehigh posted a tutorial a few years ago that explained how he edited his photos employing Photoshop...... http://www.cointalk.com/t41839-3/
OMG, how bad were my photographic skills just 3 years ago. Mike was right, there should not be that drastic a difference between the raw photo and the final product. I think I have gotten better over the years.
They weren't bad at all, and they gave all of us inspiration to somewhat achieve what you have accomplished......
heres my 1988 lmc that i found roll hunting about 5-6 years ago. im sure you guys have already seen it before thanks for the contest!!
