I meant twice in a row on the reel.
That is the difference between Theroetical probability and Actual probability. Orange doesn't show up on the wheel twice in a row so the chance of getting an orange must be 50% or lower. The fact that orange has been selected multiple times in a row doesn't change the fact that on each independant spin the probability of an orange is likely 50%. The odds of seeing orange on the next 6 spins would be about 1.5% (assuming that the reel is a fair reel and every part of the wheel has equal chance of being selected)

 

Well I dont know why you brought up orange on the 1st and 2nd reel but to answer your question yes it has happened where orange was 1st and 2nd reel on two consecutive spins.

as for the 68.5% thing. I was just giving bob a quick fact because he mentioned the first reel. It was not a guess, just a simple fact. So far that is how much orange has shown up on the 1st reel.

But I won't disclose any more info myself. No need to help everyone have higher probability guesses .

I've decided to spin the reels earlier in the day over this Holiday Weekend.

Today is traditionally the start of summer activities for many Americans. Activity on Coin Forums tends to slow as collectors spend more time on outdoor recreation and travel. While we may see fewer guesses posted on this thread over the weekend, our contest will continue. You'll remember that the purpose of the contest was to encourage Coin Talk Members to log on daily (or at least several times a week) to stimulate activity on the forum. For those of you who will be traveling over the weekend, consider taking a few minutes to log on and post your guess with your smart phone.

As always, there will be at least 21 hours between spins (or 24 if someone is 'Jackpot Qualified').

I've enjoyed the banter between players about the mapping the reels, the frequency of the symbols on the reels, and the mathematics of this particular machine.

When I created the rules for our contest, I first had to map the reels to determine the odds of winning, and structure the game rules so that the game would last a reasonable amount of time (not too long and not too short). I should also note that this slot machine has no internal adjustments for jackpot frequency or payoff odds. Your odds of winning appear to be solely determined by mechanical chance, based on the number of times that each symbol is printed on each reel.

Before we conduct today's spin, here's a few more statistics:
