Found this among some Franklins I came in possession of. Not sure what to make of this mint mark. Any ideas from those who would know better?

That looks like a dropped letter, I believe it's called. I know nothing about them.

It could be a RPM because I think there is a D/S for that year...but it really looks like its damaged more than an RPM...it looks like something hard nicked it right there and made that indent.

Can ya post a pic of the coin without the special effects superimposed on the coin.

sure...looking at it with a 20X eye, it doesn't look as if it had been dinged, but again, I don't know exactly what I'm looking at or for. Pardon the ignorance, but what is an RPM?

An RPM is a re-punched mint mark, but I don't think that's what this is. My guess would be damage that has caused the metal to slide over to the side.

Thats what it looks like to me also, as damaged as the coin is on the reverse, whatever scraped across it also damaged the mint mark.
