I'll let someone else post the USA civil war.

1863 kicked-off the Colorado war. The Colorado war was a conflict between American Indians & white settlers in the Colorado territory. According to Wikipedia, the Colorado war included a particularly barbaric attack known as the Sand Creek massacre. The battle, initially hailed in the United States press as a great victory, was later publicly condemned as an act of depraved genocidal brutality.

    Here is an 1877 cent

1877 saw the Nez Perce war. American Indians in the Pacific Northwest refused to give-up their ancestral lands and would not be forced onto reservations in Idaho. They fought, retreated, and many were killed or captured & sent to Leavenworth. It was at the final surrender of the Nez Perce when Chief Joseph gave his famous "I Will Fight No More Forever" speech.

Wish I had a piece of Mormon gold to post

In 1857 there was the Utah War or Mormon war. According to Wikipedia, the "war" had no battles, and was resolved through negotiation. I recall being told that many non-Mormon civilians died when the Mormons blocked the routes into the Salt Lake area. Here is a Denmark 16 Rigsmontskilling dated 1857.
