I was going through a box of pennies last night and found a 1959 Penny with Lamination Peeling. I did a quick search and found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/EC1-LAMINAT...94?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1c2716d1ba Now, I'm new to this, but I can not, in any way see this kind of error bringing this kind of price. Am I wrong? Is Lamination Peel THAT valuable? I seriously doubt I hit the lottery last night sorting through coins in my workout shorts and T-shirt... Or did I? My coin does not have as large of a piece, and I am at work right now, but I will add pictures when I get home. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and input. Kyle
Errors can sell for surprisingly high prices if they're special. But nowhere near that auction (which no one is biting on). Lamination peel is not rare and wouldn't normally fetch more than $20 or so. That's just a stab. There are no hard numbers. Lance.
That's an "asking" price, not necessarily it's true value. One can ask for as much as they want, but its true value is only what someone is willing to pay for it. Keep watching that item. You'll see that it won't sell at that price. Did you look at completed sales to see how much they actually sell for?
