150th Anniversary of National Museum of Warsaw 10 Zlotych Silver Coin
May 17, 2012 By Michael Alexander Leave a Comment

The National Bank of Poland has issued (15th May) a commemorative coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the National Museum in Warsaw, which is celebrating this milestone under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski.

Established in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum in Warsaw is one of Poland's oldest and biggest art museums. It houses items of Polish culture from various eras as far back as the reign of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski to the present. Besides Polish art, the collection features European paintings by Dutch, Flemish, Italian and French artists, all adding up to a rich and comprehensive collection of art history from Antiquity to date.

You Polish guys always stick together......:)

Gotta say though, that's one heck of a beautiful coin. I'm not much into 'world issues' but I really would consider adding this to my collection. Marvelous piece.
