I love the design of the Ike dollars. What's the most you've ever paid for one in circ. condition? I'm averaging about 3-4 dollars each, shipping included.

I have never paid more than $1 for a circulated Ike. You shouldn't either.

I'd pay a bit more for a circulated type 2, but you make a good point -- one should be able to get circulated ikes for little to no premium.

Always ask at local banks if they have Ike dollars, a lot of times they do. Also, you can go to a coin show and buy them for $1.25 usually. They have buckets full of them.

If you really want some nice ikes. Buy the mint sets, they are between $6-10$ shipped to your door. Then you have some nice uncirculated Ikes. Not mention you get two Ikes, one from each mint, plus all the other uncirculated coins that come with it.

I'd have to agree with the idea of the mint sets. Those things from 1973-1978 are dirt cheap. Gorgeous coins usually.

I don't know. They aren't in banks in NYC any longer. i tend to look over fast coins or dealers, and you need to pay them something.

I won 328 of them in a contest where I had to guess how many were in a container, so I'm good for awhile.

I always ask whenever I hit the bank... picked up thirty on Saturday, so they're definitely out there. Most tellers are more than happy to have you take them off their hands.

Might just be me but i find better luck cherry picking dealers uncirculated gems for errors or variety's much more profitable most dealers are just happy to actually sell them. Picked an uncirculated 1976-P tilted collar strike with railroad rim last week for $2.

checked all 4 banks in my town. none of them have any. I have plenty of mint uncirc. ikes too but the collector in me appreciates the beauty of both circ. AND uncirc coins.

I have a very nice set of all the Ike's that were released for circulation. They are Au 58 or better (mostly better) and all came out of rolls I picked up at the bank. I just asked for all they had every time I went in and maybe once every couple of months there would be a roll or 2 or 6 that someone had dropped off. Tellers were giddy happy to get rid of them. You can find a very nice complete set in circulation and its a lot of fun (treasure hunting) Found several type coins that I then sold for a couple of dollars. Only Ike I ever bought was a very high grade BU for a type set. I believe it was $4.

Correct. Dealers ask between $1.50 and $3.00 each.

$3-$4 is way to much. Try to find a local dealer. They should sell them for $1.50 each.
