I was wondering if my morgan dollar had a die crack error or if it was just a scratch? The scratch doesn't go through the U, but it continues through the other side, I don't know if this is a sign whether or not it's a die crack. Here are a few pictures, sorry they aren't the best quality.
IF IT IS A DIE CRACK, IT WILL BE A RAISED LINE. sry caps. if it is dug in its not a die crack. remember, a die is a reverse of a coin. so a crack on the die will allow material to fill it.
