Good evening folks, Tomorrow I´m shipping out to the US 10 errors, two Kingdom coins as well as some Gold and silver proof sets. I promissed last time to give you a before shots of the coins to compere when they get back. So here they are, photos are taking to highten what I want NCS to take care off. 1929 2 Kronur - Now this is the number one key date for Icelandic coins and this is a great looking specimen. It is the finest I have ever got and i´m hoping that NCS will be able to take care of the reverse and obverse problems. It would make my year. 1940 1 Krona ( danish version ) A woman came to me the other day with a box of coins and in that box was this coin. I have never seen a specimen from 1940 with mint luster. They are all dull and we think it´s because of the enviorment in the mint. The central bank of Icleand does not own a specimen with mint luster. Some PVC and some dark erias. 1966 2 Kronur " thick varietie W/small clip - This is one of my jewles in my error collection. Only 300 minted and to find one with a error is mindblowing. Even with this small clip it´s a gem. Black spots on back with light finger print. 1966 1 Krona "off metal" Very faint fingerprint that should be taken care of for the future. 1984 1 Krona " off metal " I own another specimen of this error with same date. Hoping NCS will take care of the dark substance that´s over the most of the coin. 10 Kronur " Off metal / Small planhet " Hoping NCS will take care of the black substance and small PVC and faint fingerprint. 1 Krona 1999 " Struck on 20 Pence UK planchet " This one needs a small bath to take care of wrong handling by previous owner. 100 Kronur 1995 " Struck on 20 Pence UK planchet " Faint fingerprint 1 Krona 1999 " Planchet defect " Very very light fingerprint 10 Kronur 1994 " Planchet defect pre strike " Need a light bath to take some of the haze of the coin 1 Krona 1999 " Tripple cut some spots on reverse with minor fingerprint 50 Kronur " double clip " One of my favouits. Some staings on reverse that needs to be off for the future. I´ll let everyone know when the coins arrive back to Iceland :thumb: Siggi
Outcome should be interesting. But I'm curious Siggi, where is it that you think you're seeing PVC on those ? I didn't take the time to look them up, the 2nd 3 look to be made of copper - yes ? But what about the 1st 3 - what are those made of ? The rest appear to be cuni, those I expect should turn out alright. But those first 6, I dunno. Reckon we'll see though.
The first 3 are made from copper-Nickel. The pvc on the second coin is a overall greenish hase. You can see it clearly with your eyes I could be wrong with the 10 Kronur but there is some green substance on the eagles neck.
Take your word for it, I just can't see it in the pics. Pretty sure that's verdigris Siggi. But they might can help it out.
A super bunch of coins you got there Siggi. The 2 kronur should do real well as far as a grade is concern and the Copenhagen Krona is real nice too at first I thought that was a srcath on the shield but when I downloaded the picture I can see that the dark line is from the metal mixture which can be seen on many Icelandic 1 and 2 kronur from this era as well as planchet flaws I see. I think the 1929 2 Kronur should come back a 65 and the 1 krona a 63.......Good luck with them.
Thank you buddy, I would love those grades. And yes it´s a known fact that the Danish mint was sloppy when it came to metal mixtures and stricking. So I was extatic when I saw that coin
