Hey all, So I am a beginning collector. I got started by finding star notes, and reading about them. They sounded neat. Then one day I pulled an uncirculated $20 from an ATM with serial number GF 00066600*, and subsequently sold it on ebay for $101. Unfortunately, I don't have any more photos of it. So my collection is growing and today I purchased a 1907 $10 Teehee/Burke Gold Certificate. I would grade it conservatively an EF40 because of the pale color seal and serial. If it was brighter, a definite 45 in my book. I talked the guy down from $645 sticker to about $525. But I still feel I over paid a bit. Here's some shots of it: http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu286/twidgetfitch/Money/9aa597c4.jpg http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu286/twidgetfitch/Money/c8101b83.jpg Here are the photos of my collection: http://photobucket.com/funkeemoney I got a steal on some of them on eBay: $1 1935A Hawaii note, my grade EF 40 at $25 $5 1934A North Africa note, my grade AU 50 at $40 $5 1934A Silver Certificate, my grade EF 45 at $17 The rest of my collection: $1 1928A Silver Certificate, their grade EF 40 at $40 $1 1957 Silver Certificate, my grade GU 63 at $5 $1 1957B Star Silver Certificate, my grade VG 15 at $5 $2 1963 Legal Tender Star Note, my grade AU 50 at $35 5x $2 1953,A,C ranging from VF 25 to EF 40 at $4-$5 each $5 1963 Star Legal Tender Note SN *01001100A, my grade VG 15 at $25 $10 1995 Star Federal Reserve Note, my grade GU 63, $20 $1 Large Size 1923 Silver Certificate, my grade VF $20 for $36 $10 Large Size 1907 Gold Certificate Teehee/Burke FR 1172 at $525 There are 2 2003 $2 FRNs from a bank teller, and a 1995 $2 FRN as a free gift, all with ink smears. Plus a random 1993 $20 FRN in VF. I needed something to put in the spare bill holder I had! Two additional questions: 1. There was some conflicting from my book to the owner's on the 1922 notes. Which ones are worth more, the small serial numbers or the large ones? 2. Are the semi-rigid holders - the ones the bills are in, bad for long term storage? I heard they are, but I prefer the rigid ones. Thanks all!
Bumpity! Sorry for the rambling post... just mainly want to know if I paid too much for that 1907 $10 Teehee/Burke Gold Certificate. Thanks!
No, you did ok. If you searched longer you might have found one a little cheaper but you have a nice note and the price you paid was a fair retail price.
