I'll never understand why people who sell coins on eBay want to make it as difficult as possible. Poor pictures, inadequate descriptions ... you'd think they don't want to make money. One seller I see all the time sells lots of coins, and always just photographs one side, which is the side without the date, and never says anywhere in the listing what the date is, because who would want to know that, right? Here's my nominee for the excellence in photography. Apparently it was photographed during a power outage. http://www.ebay.com/itm/bunch-of-co...505?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f17812de1
Maybe the seller is going "Green" and just turning out the lights to lower his carbon footprint and save the world from needy and abusive world coin collectors! In any case he/she gets the Edison award! :thumb:
Wait! This pic is even better and it's "neat" http://www.ebay.com/itm/shotgun-roll-of-wheat-penneys-w-1910-and-steel-ends-/270978331756?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3f1791346c#ht_500wt_1202 This dude forgot to mention that the photograph was also taken in 1910!
Maybe. I don't know how some of these sellers with thousands of listings can afford the fees. I only list when there is a free listing promo going on. It's annoying to have to operate on eBay's schedule, but it's really the only option. I just scan my coins. It doesn't work well on silver or proof coins, but I think in most cases it shows up better than photographs. Scanners are pretty common nowadays too - mine is built into my printer. My camera is designed for distance photography so that's not really an option for me.
Lot of beautiful coins. I do not use stock images, the items in the images are the actual items you will receive! edit: No refunds!
If the previous pic was taken in 1910, this one dates back the Stone Age ( or a black out day ) It should be an auction for very ancient coins....before fire was invented ( slightly :devil
Be sure your listing goes something like this: Title: Vintage! LQQK! Georgivs Rex Dei Gracia old collector coin Description: Im not a coin collectr so I dnt know whut this iz. Shipping $8.95 to U.S. only. Starting price: $19.95.
I hate when ebay sellers doctor their photos with alternate blue and yellow filters to try and hide blemishes on the coins. I pass right on to the next one when I see a listing like that because the coin won't look the same once its in hand.
I've never noticed those filters, but if a seller does dishonest things then he or she will find few return customers. It pays in the long run to be honest on eBay.
Have you ever noticed those pictures? I have. Once I see a doctored photo I move on. Besides, those that do that usually charge way too much for the coin even if it was in the best condition.
I would rather bid on the coin + vodka than be expected to bid on a seller's ego. The guy lists the coins with no reverse image, like the extra 15 cent charge for that is too much on a $3800 set of coins, and then he obscures the lousy image he is using with his stupid logo. But apparently 10,000 other bidders can't be all wrong, or at least for those bidders who are more interested in the coin's slab and grade than in what the coin actually looks like, -they seem to be happy dealing with the guy according to his feedback. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Gold-China-Panda-5-Coin-Set-NGC-MS69-Early-Releases-1-9-Oz-999-Chinese-Coin-/120906003066?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1c268f327a
