Just got this one--one of the cutest coins ever!

I have always thought this one of the cutest coins ever. Got it for my wife, belated Mother's Day.




Got its brother also--the cameo proof.

Nice! I did not even know those two special releases existed!

 

They were minted at the same time as the bald eagle flying $1 proof and uncirculated coins.

 

I consider that one to be the most beautiful modern design. Too bad it is not a circulation piece so that all could enjoy it.

 

Cute? One of the cutest coins ever? I don't think I've ever heard anyone describe a coin as cute. But, well, okay. As long as the missus likes it.

Actually I never thought of it as cute. Challenger on the half.



BTW there is nothing cute in the parents protecting their young when it comes to these majestic birds. They will fight to the death.

That might be why many military units use it as their emblems let along this nation.

 

I think the idea of cute has to do with the obverse with the baby eaglets. I am well aware of the legacy of "challenger," as I served on the Saratoga for 4 years.
