My new branch didn't have a full dime bag, but they were kind enough to give me the partial bag off the machine - $364.60. My results: 2x '64 roosies, a '62 roosie, and an 80% '65 canadian. Not bad! I have a third branch getting me their coin counter bag, so I should have 3 bags per week starting next week. Hopefully someone dumps an old coin jar!

Edit: I forgot to add - my second handful of dimes from the bag had both of the '64 roosies in it - I was thinking I had a monster bag! Oh well, more than 1 dime per $100 is still pretty darn good.

Today sucked! All my pickup banks in downtown Chicago were closed because of the Nato summit and the friggin' idiot protestors!

Don't they know that I have OCD and need to pick up coins?

Another big box of halves for me: six 40%ers, a Frankie, and SEVEN 64's!

Huge week for me, even if I sold at these recent low silver prices I'd make at least as much as I would with a real part-time job!

Did a box of halves...found a 1971 proof. I'm still uneducated on the Kennedy proofs so I looked them up to discover there is no silver content? Which is strange because all I do is look at the sides of my halves when I search and I picked it out because it looked like a silver coin from the side... but either way I think it's pretty cool to pick a proof coin out of circulation with a mintage of only 3.2 million. This is also my second Kennedy proof from circulation in the past 2 months or so which is cool.

I love proof coins, even if they are clad (can't wait to fetch my first silver proof) because of how precise all the details of the designs look. Makes me really appreciate that I'm holding a beautiful piece of art in my hands.

There are both clad and silver proofs. But I thought silver proofs didn't return until a little while after 1971. Someone else can chirp in here if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Just looked it up. Silver proofs returned in 1992. So if it's a 1971 S, it must be clad.

    Weekly results time:

    Quarters (63 rolls): Wash x1
Dimes (123 rolls and 4 boxes): Roosie x5, Merc x1
    Nickels (78 rolls and 2 boxes): War x5, Buff x2, and a 1939S
Pennies (74 rolls): Wheat x24 and a clipped planchet mem cent
    Halves (2 boxes and $49 loose/cwr): 40% x4, 1999S Proof
    Reject tube finds: Roosie x4

Also picked up 67 Ikes today, no rare 1972/1976 varieties. I'm at 267 Ikes now, with absolutely 0 1976 type 1s or 1972 type 3s, and not even one coin that would grade over 64 or 65. I'm really contemplating just offloading a whole bunch of these as the bank.

Kinda a meh week this week for silver, only 1.7771 ozt. Better than nothing I guess, but I'd really like to have a week where I break 5 ounces this year :(

    Foreign finds this week: $1.50 CD, 5c Aruba, 25c Netherlands, 2p Mexico, 1s Israel, 5c Cuba, $1 Jamaica, 10c Barbados, 26c Trinidad, 1p UK, 1/2fr Switzerland, 25c Bermuda, and 10d Yugoslavia

What do you guys think I should do with my Ikes?

Try selling them on Ebay or something, Looks like they go for about 1.5-2X face value, better than getting a dollar each at the bank.

$500 BWR dimes - 1 rosie, and 3 more modern canadians

I have about $20 of modern canadian coins now... What do you guys do with all your canadian and foreign stuff that won't go through the coin machines? Would it be unethical to roll them and deposit them at a different branch? I'm kinda of thinking it wouldn't be, because they charged me face for them, but I also think it would be wrong because then someone else is going to be stuck with them. Any Thoughts?

I keep the 99.9% copper and nickel stuff separately, in case I want to get it melted down into ingots one day (since there's no prohibition about melting down canadian coins in the US), and the rest I keep in a jar. My grandmother has a summer house on the Canadian side of Lake Erie, so I'm saving all the steel/etc (all the post-1999 coins, basically) for the next time I go visit.

It would be highly unethical as well as illegal to dump off presumably solid rolls of Canadian coins at an American bank as most people would see them as washers. I recently wrote about what to do in this situation and you can read what I said here: http://www.cointalk.com/t204663-3/#post1436596 Basically, I suggest dispersing them gradually by using ratios.

Found my 3rd "State" cent today. In the last year, I've found Indiana, Louisana. Now, add New Mexico to the list!

Well I went to my bank yesterday and picked up two boxes.
Box 1: 7 40% Bicentennial proofs, 1 90 % Bicentennial proof and 4 40%'s!! I gave one 40% proof to my friend thats why there's a total of seven proofs in the picture.

    Box 2: 1 64'

My fiance and I were having a blast going through these.Hopefully my luck continues into next weeks boxes!
