Hello. I have a 1977 s mint nickel here. I tryed to scan this the best I good but the scanner but I think the scanner may not have picked up the mint mark that well. With my 20x25mm loupe, this mint mark looks as though it is an s over d. The coin looks very nice in hand and the scan doesn't do it justice at all. Any info would be greatly appreciated on this coin! Thank you all for your time!!!

Sorry but I see nothing based on this pic. You have a few options.

    A. You can try and get VERY close up pictures of the MM so that we can see what your talking about.
    B. You can send the coin into one of the professionals for verification (there is a fee)
    C. Take it to a local coin shop and see if the person working there can verify what your seeing.
    D. Many other options but I think you get my point. We (I) can not see what your looking at. : )

Your photo is not the best (lots of glare on the mintmark).

Your coin is an impaired Proof coin. (The San Francisco Mint did not strike any nickels for circulation in 1977.)

Please post a better photo of the mintmark so we can see what you are talking about.
