Because of the eyes detail and the nice mirrors. And your the dealer in this thread, so I am asking if you sell Ikes Ruben
Of course it is a nice strike...It is a proof, they are intentionally made that way. The mirrors leave a bit to be desired. I would grade it PR-65 on a good day.
Ruben: I am not a dealer. Never have been. I have worked for a dealer, but I have never been one. The coin is spotted like most Ike proof coins are. Most have a decent cameo contrast but it (the contrast) is often overwhelmed by the spots. 1973 is the first year of CuNi proofs in the Ike series. Most of them grade MS-65 or better. Then again most proof coins have excellent strikes and should grade at 65 or better, especially post-1970. If you're asking me my opinion on this coin, I would pass on it. It's a relatively common coin with a relatively common strike and the eye appeal is lacking due to the spots. I would also prefer one with a deeper cameo contrast. This one has some, but not as much as some I have seen. I would look for another. You'll likely find a nice coin without the spots, but it will take some work to find. That's an Ike that would interest me.
