I've seen that coin in hand... It's pretty neat. RARE as heck as well.

Wow. That would be an awesome piece to own. Add this to the "If I ever win the Lottery" coin list!

    Since you have seen it:

What the heck is that in front of the face?

Looks like copper? Or a stain?

Either way, it sure doesn't look like a 65 to me....

But, what do I know, I wear glasses.

It's been a couple of years since I have seen it but if I remember right it was an area of heavy flow lines.

From a legal sense (or is it cents :)) ...

Is this coin worth one cent, or $2.50, or neither (as in 'struck at 3am by the janitor and snuck out of the mint')?

Do your glasses also see all the dirt and grime stuck in the protected areas that my glasses see ?

I have to agree Frank, that coin is no MS anything. But it IS one heck of a coin regardless of what it grades !

I've seen it in hand a few times... it's been at the Long Beach show on display with another IHC on $2.5 gold planchet for the last few shows. Definitely one of the coolest coins I've ever seen and the grade that's put on the label is not relevant.

Giving a coin a grade making it the finest known is VERY relevant. Looks in the AU-55 range to me.
