I know there are places to buy coins such as the Littleton coin company to get great deals on coins but are there any places to get similar deals on paper currency. I shop on ebay, but i'd like to find more places.
#1. You are not getting any "deals" at Littleton. You are overpaying. #2. It depends on what type of currency you are looking for. Different dealers specialize in different areas.
look in the newpaper for local auctions (live or online). I've been very satisfied lately Also for a good time try strap searching from the bank or go to the casino.... Want ads have pleasantly suprised me also. I agree with jhinton there are no 'deals' from Littleton, or that coin peddler on the Home Shopping Network.
I efuse to buy anything from the home shopping network ever since my 'indestructable' sword broke on me.
Exactly what kind(s) of paper money are you trying to buy/collect? Tell us that and perhaps you'll get better information on where to go to find what you are after. Is is US? French? African? Tibetan? Colonial? Military? Invasion currency? Hyper-inflationary notes? Checks? Stock certificates? Tickets? Tax Revenue labels? Other...? There's an enormous world of "paper money" out there, and some venues are better than others at providing what you may be seeking. Better information will get you better replies. For now the best thing we can tell you is to avoid Littleton from here on out, forevermore!
A lot of stuff is offered @ the Collectors Universe paper money forum: http://forums.collectors.com/categories.cfm?catid=24 I personally think that the prices are pretty much retail, but that's not the worst thing in the world. Most sellers are vetted and reliable. Doug

Two hours? Phhhtttt! You're going to be wasting at least two weeks! Get a big sack of Doritos, a case of energy drinks and turn off your phone because once you start checking out some of those sites, you're not going to be doing anything else.
miraculously, i lost my bookmark for this page after opening only a few of the sites. now, however, with your reply, i fear i only delayed the inevitable. thankfully however, my currency collection has strayed into the hyper-specific of certain national bank notes, which means there isn't necessarily a lot out there. so far i've picked up two from the city i was born, now working on the other events of my life.
