I use a Cannon Powershot SD 1200 which wasn't too pricey (two years ago). I think they may have upgraded the line since then.
Sony HX200v--very high quality for a one lens camera (wide to super zoom) with a killer macro setting. For a DSLR, go NIKON!
If budget is an issue, and you aren't stepping into a DLSR, I suggest the Nikon s9100. $200 at Walmart. Don't forget, the camera is not the most important part for good coin photography. The lighting and positioning are. :thumb:
Second the thought on the Nikon 9100. I have that as my travel camera and it takes good pictures. Agree completely with the lighting comment--it is crucial.
Agreed with the lighting issue. I have a Nikon D40x but my iphone works almost as well because I have never gotten around to building a light setup.
