1908 v nickel inquiry

I do not know what to think of this date on the v nickel. It is apparently damaged but the zero in the date make me think if it double die? My dad recently gave these to me and he has had them since the 30's. What do you all think?

That is damage, not doubling. What does the reverse look like? My guess is there is corresponding damage on the reverse.

looks like it is in pretty rough shape. is the obverse in some other thread? have a particular question about this coin?

 

just saw a pic of the reverse in another thread - so i get it now. coin is just damaged, on the front and back. worth ... about 50 cents.
