Very nice coin there, I think! Honestly, I cannot make out any of the details, but something seems kinda fishy. What's the other side look like, along with size and weight?
fake without question Philippines did not make modern coins until the date part of the 1800s and i think they never used gold Also pure gold (24k) is almost impossible to make coins from source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manila_Mint And that's the word
A similar one was dug up a while ago. I think it was determined to be a religious medallion, not a coin. http://www.cointalk.com/t104254/

For credibility please do the following A) Post a decent photograph of the front and back of the coin B) Give us a weight and dimension of the coin C) Give us the complete pedigree of this rare find Ruben
I hate to be the one to disappoint you; however, the bulk of information found on Wikipedia is user submitted and not entirely reliable, nor accurate.
Hello Cyberdummy, I would like to learn more about your coin/medallion and I think that you would also like to learn more. Please take a clear photograph of both the obverse & reverse. Crop the photographs tightly around the image so that you do not show much of the background. Please post the photos along with the weight & dimension in the world & ancient coin section. I think you will receive some good comments in the world & ancient section if you post a quality thread. It is also nice to know from where the coin originally came to you. This is not necessary to know but it would be nice to know. By the way, in your blurry photo, the piece does not look like gold to me. It shows toning in the protected areas and gold does not tarnish. Perhaps it is made of brass?
