Cute story, they had an open competition throught the country to design a coin.

I like it, it looks like it should be posted on a refrigerator. :)

It is the first glow in the dark magnetic coin with built in red ceiling wax.

To be honest I actually like it, I love the idea they have behind it`s design and I love animals on coins too :D
But I can`t see myself buying one a bit out of mai price range :(

I think these were minted at the Finish Mint in Helsinki. Can you imagine the response on the Mint floor when this was being produced in good silver?

He ostavat mitään hyvää Yhdysvaltain dollaria! Näitkö jutut Puolalaiset Brothers oli meidän tehdä viime viikolla. Yuck.

Se ei ole Sika, se on jonkinlainen iso rotta!

    Friend of fatherless!
    Fountain of happiness!
    Lord of the swill-bucket!
Oh, how my soul is on
Fire when I gaze at thy
    Calm and commanding eye,
Like the sun in the sky,
    Comrade Napoleon!

    Thou art the giver of
    All that thy creatures love,
    Full belly twice a day, clean straw to roll upon;
    Every beast big and small
Sleeps at peace in his stall,
    Thou watchest over all,
    Comrade Napoleon!

    Had I a sucking-pig,
Ere he had grown as big
Even as a pint bottle or as a rolling-pin,
He should have learned to be
    Faithful and true to thee,
Yes, his first squeak should be
    "Comrade Napoleon!"

moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

i think the poster meant sealing wax, which is used to seal legal papers.

but i would just like to add that the coins in question are an abomination and regardless of the story behind them they are pretty disgusting.

I would just say to each his own sir. I call most modern US coins abominations, and would actually prefor to own these. US coins have no excuse, they are just poor artistic designs struck in low relief. At least these coins you know are kids art work, and as such I find them personally more artistically pleasing than the committee created concoctions today. I find them more artistically pure in execution.

I am still not spending that kind of money on them, but if I found them later on for a more reasonable price I would buy them just to have something to pull out and bring a smile to my face occasionally. :)

    To each his own.

I would think that someone habitually using twenty dollar words would easily get a twenty cent word right.

Yup, one has to imagine, more creative thought were put into these drawings that are now on coins than say the creative thought process of slapping a dead presidents mugshot on a coin.
