Please take a look at these two images and tell me if either of these is a wide or narrow 'AM'.
The first image is a 1998 LMC. The second image is a 1988 LMC. Thank you for your thoughts!

The correct term is "Close AM". The first coin is a close AM (CLAM) and the second wide (WAM). Congrats on finding the 98 WAM!

Wouldn't a 1988 CAM be impossible? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the transitional errors should be limited to 1992.... right?

the 88 should be a WAM though. Can you post a pic of the position of the initials by the memorial?

OK, so the 1988 is a CLAM and the 1998 is a WAM... I am finding it difficult to see the 'wide' in the 1998. The spaces between the other letters appears to be just as wide as the distance between the 'A' and the 'M.' What kind of premium is there for the 1998 WAM?

    I think I am confused?????

Please excuse the horrible pictures, I did them in a hurry. The first pictures are of the 1988:

These next pictures are of the 1998

Those are the normal reverses for those years. I figured you had them reversed in your first post.

I know this sounds wierd, but good. At least now I don't think I am going crazy. Sorry for the confusion

    Here it is:

    1959-1991 P,D,S - Wide AM
1992, 1992 D - should be Wide AM, very rare with Close AM
    1992 S - Wide AM
    1993, 1993 D, 1993 S - Close AM
    1994-1997 P,D - Close AM
    1994-1997 S - Wide AM
1998-2000 P,D - should be Close AM, very rare with Wide AM
1998-1999 S - should be Wide AM, very rare with Close AM
    2001-2008 P,D - Close AM
    2000-2008 S - Wide AM

    Since you mentioned 1988:

All 1988s (P,D,S) should have the reverse of 88
All 1989s (P,D,S) should have the reverse of 89
Some 1988s (P,D) have the reverse of 89

BadThad, the first image is the '98, and it's a close AM, it's the '88 that is the wide AM.

    @jcakcoin

I think there is an error in this list, but correct me if I'm wrong.

"1998-2000 P,D - should be Close AM, very rare with Wide AM"...

...implies that there are rare 1998-2000 D Wide AM's, but I only thought that the rare Wide AM's came from Philly during these years?
