Yeah! That's right, bite the hand that feeds you. Give them Rabies and keep it all to yourself. Haha Just joking. I know you meant to say something else but I couldn't resist
I'd have to say I'm a little bit of both. I do enjoy buying certain coins in a nice quality. But when it comes to late 19th Century coins, I do enjoy the beat up ones, as it holds a "story" and a great piece of history. Old beat up coins kind of represent life, it beats you up and ages you! -Cheeks
I'm kind-of with you on this one. I also lean towards snobby. I strive to buy the best possible coin that is within what I can afford. Sometimes I have a lot of money to spend on the hobby & sometimes I don't.
No need to being a "snob" with my series of choice, just picky  There are enough Kennedy half dollars to go around. Been number 1 at both NGC and PCGS Registries for a few years now, no big deal, someone could move in tomorrow and knock me out. It is just fun to collect them, especially the die varieties.
I'm definitely more of a slob than snob. It's the cheapskate in me. I'll spring for a coin that might have a rim nick or an old cleaning, especially if I can get it at a discount, and I hardly notice the flaw. I haven't tried to sell any significant portion of my collection yet, maybe I'll change my tune! That's not to say I don't appreciate coin snobs. I respect the patience, discipline and discerning eye it takes to put together a quality collection.
Was a slob but become a snob though I still collect circ's they have to be choice for the grade and well struck
I am a snob these days not only do i expect the coin to be in a good expectation i find myself wanting them to be in there in orginal mint case with CoA these days.
I dont fit in either, because I will wait it out for a good coin, or snap a reasonable example, just depending on series, purpose, and other reasons.
I like either type, depending on the series. I would rather a worn coin than an MS with a bunch of chatter and such.
Slob! Hey, look what I collect. No such thing as a pristine counterstamp. If you ever find one it's a fake. Bruce
I'm mostly of the slob category. I like to buy coins XF, AU50-58. But of course I buy lower and higher grades. Lately, I've been enamored by all the silver bullion coins from around the world. In the last 2 months I've bought the Canadian Moose (20), the Canadian Dragon and a scalloped silver dragon, a Mexican Libertad and from Austrailia, a 10 ozt. Year Of The Dragon coin. All beautiful to look at and pure silver, too! Oh, I can't forget a 1921 Peace $ PCGS AU 53 with a nice light toning going on.
I would be considered slobbish I guess with a little snobish tendencies. With my vf/xf lincoln set for example some of them are still on the low end of vf and when I visit my album I think to myself that I really should upgrade them, someday. But I don't have a real driving compulsion to do it to the point that I can't enjoy my set as it is right now.
I propose a third option! I would consider myself a Coin "Shelob" based on the fact I only collect coins I find in my couch that I have trapped there much like Shelob waits to eat anything she snares in her web beneath Cirith Ungol....plus the fact I am venomous!
For me, a snob in the sense of "quality eye-appeal", which is NOT the same as grade. I prefer beautifully toned coins over blast white/red ones. Otherwise (since I am a stereotypical asian,) I am a slob
