Exactly. For centuries art was art, and this was no big deal. Look at notes from around the world 100 years ago. In the day and age when anyone can go onto the internet and find whatever kinds of pictures they want, it seems to be a really strange time for people to become such prudes. I thought the two buildings were kind of weird, but had no objections to anything else.
That's not even the issue I'm having with these people. The point here is that the bill has an image of the Vimy Ridge War Memorial honouring the sacrifice of thousands of Canadian soldiers during WWI. As the article said, many people didn't know that. I have to assume that, once they found out, they changed their minds. Personally, I think that is a great thing to have on one of, if not the most common denomination bill in the country.
I wonder how many people raising a stink about it would have actually noticed it without the news article.
I used to get really upset when people called me a sexist, racist or other type of "ist"or "phobe". Then I discovered the simple truth, as a red meat chewing, beer swiilin', heretosexual, huntin' shootin'' fishin' skirt chasin' (oh, coin collecting too) white male there was nothing I could say or do to stop the accusations. No matter how hard I try to be tolerant I am still guilty of historical injustices. However hard I try to walk in the other man's shoes and judge not, I'm a white male and resposible for all the wars, famine and pestilence throughout the ages. Despite bringing up several beautiful children with care, love, guidance and the tenderest respect for their varied mothers I'm personally keeping women in the middle ages or the kitchen depending on which man hating group is pontificating. So I said "bugger this" and became a bigoted, homophobic, mysogynistic racist. I've been much happier ever since. The PC critics have moved on to more important issues such as pornograhic banknotes.
The new Canadian $20 note is a well-designed piece of currency, employing the newest anti-counterfeiting technologies and showcasing a war memorial of intense national pride and sacrifice, friendship between Canada and France and the vignette of Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. If the public does not like the note, use a $20 silver coin!
People really need to look up the definition of pornography and all of it's root words, i.e. pornographic.
i am sorry but what the **** is wrong with the world. its ok for foul language and killing on tv but damned there is a piece of art on the new $20 some people need to just chill out a little. if that's their one big fight in this world i feel sorry for them
