E-Bay purchases

Alright, i'll start this off with my recent awesome buy of the month from e-bay...I purchased an ANACS certified slabbed 1972 DDO MS-64, For a total whopping amount of 48 dollars, including shipping and insurance, from a person who had 856 positive feedbacks, and 1 negative, which seemed like a bogus claim if i've ever seen one. Alright, let's hear everyone else's good e-bay purchases, from anyone who has bought from e-bay.

That's an awesome coin, It goes to show that there is at least a couple of coins on ebay that you can get for under retail, and gorgeous coins at that. tell me something, was anyone else bidding on that item? Or were you first and winning bidder?

 

I sold my son's AU55 1972 PCGS DDO tonight (ebay) as well...alot more than what you paid for the ANACS.

That's a great deal. I saw it and I figured it must of been a type 7 or 8 DDO, but I am glad you got the real deal!

 

This one is a die 3, and a FS-033.53 whatever that means? any help
Ok, I just answered my own question, seems i paid a little over the value of the coin i think...But, it will be my first error coin that is graded by ANACS Either way i'm good

 

There were two other bidders. My snipe was placed with 2 seconds remaining.

but dela of the month i got was probably near 200 silver sixpences for 18 pounds.

other deals include 2 decent morgans for 12 pound

over 30 silver shillings for 5.50

4 un-opened tubes of silver eagles for 400 pound thogh the customs then stung me for 160 pounds on top ruining that deal.

ive lso bought

mixed usa coins including 5usd of roosevelt dimes

10 usd face of mercury dimes

10 liberty quarters

2 jfk dollars

and 2 diffrent piles of world coins which im waiting to be delivered to look through for anything exciting.

thats the lot

now im poor and need to work another couple months before buying anymore

Yes, it did appear to be undergraded.

One regret, though.
I outbid a very good friend of mine.
I didn't know he was interested in the coin, and I placed my snipe 1 second after he did.

 

I saw an auction on an 1879-S Morgan BU, it was pictured as a second severse, but not stated second reverse. I realized what it was (thought I was going to get a cherry) and got it for 17.75.

I guess the selller did not think that was enough, so he sent me an 1878-S instead. His written note was that there had been a mistake, but the 1878-S is worth more. Which it typically is, if not for the second reverse he had pictured in the auction.

Should I keep the 1878-S?

Not if it's not what you want.
Remember, it was your money that paid for the coin.
You shouldn't have to just "take what you get" for an item that was misrepresented.

Of course if you're happy with it, then keep it.
I still wouldn't deal with that seller again, though.
He should have asked you in advance if you would be willing to accept a substitute coin, or given you a choice of cancelling the deal.

I know I will be adding this dealer to my "blocked seller" list.

The coin I got is nice. It has very few bag marks and a nice luster. I think it is worth what I paid. But it is not what I bid on and I often get hung up on principle.

I think the guy did not get the amount he wanted\expected, or, maybe after the auction he realized what the coin was. I doubt many people would put up an 1879-S "second reverse" Morgan without mentioning the second reverse part. He has the coin, because I saw a picture of it.

I will probably keep the coin because of the expense of sending it back and I don't trust him to refund my money. It took 3 weeks for him to ship the stupid thing.

But I did file a fraud alert with Ebay, not that I expect it to do any good.

I always pay immediately after winning an auction. I notice this seller did not leave positive feedback and probably because he knew if he did, then he would not have an opportunity to retaliate if I posted negative feedback on him being a fraud.

Did anyone see the article in the latest Coin World magazine about the ANA and Ebay?
