Hello Everyone at Coin Talk. This is my first post, so I hope that I am doing things correctly. Recently I was providing some free computer tech support to a close friend. He wanted to pay me something so he gave me some silver coins that was given to him from his father many years ago. My friend said that he belived the coins were silver. They do have a silver feel and look to them but I know silver coins from collecting the US Mint Silver Eagles and other .999 rounds and these coins seem different. Perhaps they are silver clad? or some other type of metal composition. So here is the information that I have. I was given 7 of these coins. 4 of them on the front say, Merry Christmas 1995, and have Normal Rockwell written in very small lettering on the lower right side of the front coin side. On the back of these 4 coins is says, "a limited collector's edition", and also says, "For Someone Special" in a bit larger and fancy font style. On the bottom of the back side also says "congratulations" in small lettering. The other 3 coins have a Jewish Dreidel? type christmas top/toy design on those coins, but the back side is the same as the other 4 christmas / santa claus style coins. The edge of all 7 coins is riged? and they look like silver coins, but I have no idea now much silver content they are and/or are they Silver Clad coins. Does anyone have an idea of what these coins are made of? or what they are worth? Photos of the coins are included. Has anyone seen these types of coins before. I cannot find them anyone online. All replies and information given is most appreciated. Sincerely, Ron.

Thanks for the reply back. Any chance they are silver clad? or that would be marked too? They have significant weight. So they are most likely Nickel and/or some other metal composite?

Thanks "Green18". I, of course, want to follow the rules. Is there a correct forum for selling coins on "Coin Talk," or is this website entirely a information exchange based website? Sorry to All. I will not see further attempts to sell or advertise there coins here. I was mainly looking for the proper identification of what these coins are. Thanks for the correction. I will make the necessary corrections to my original POST now, if able.

There. All non-information coin related wording has been removed from my original post. Again, thanks for the correction.

Welcome to cointalk! Thank you for correcting your post. There are advertising subforums ( click on FORUMS) above to see the list. The rules are in a sticky ( first thread) in each subforum such as sell buy trade auction.

Silver clad is a fairly loose description for non-Mint coinage. A silver clad to a numismatist is referring to a 40% silver coin; however, the same term used by private businesses producing tokens or medals, it could mean silver plated.

Case in point: The $50 Gold Clad Buffalo Proofs you see advertised on t.v. for $9.95 plus shipping. Gold clad in the advertising is really gold plate.

Hey "Green18". No worries. I have been collecting coins silver coins for many years, mainly silver eagles. I also like some of those copper 1 ounce rounds and I managed to get a few of the "Amero" coins when they were popular. I know there is a big variety of silver .999 rounds out there, all different makes and designs. But these 7 coins I still have not yet figured out. They have a different feel to them, so I figure they are more than just nickel/copper type coins. I believe there is some silver content to them, but I could be wrong. Anyhow, I gladly accept all information input, both good and bad.
