Proof collectors (not just sets); anyone here do this these days or why not?

It must have been great to share a hobby with your dad. My dad collected pre-war baseball cards when I was growing up (I collected modern) I don't really remember us doing that much with the hobby together though. I had a grandfather collect cents/nickels from circulation but he died before I was 5, I wish I would have got the chance to collect with him. I still have his collect though.
