Here's one to try and guess **GRADE REVEALED** Okay, there have been some good guesses on this one. Here's a break down of all the guesses: 63 - 4 63CAC - 1 64 - 3 64PL - 1 65 - 1 DETAILS - 2 And the winner(s) are(drum roll): Seller listed this as a BIN for $265. PCGS/Numismedia guide values it at $66.
After what happened last time, I'm afraid to make a grade, but to my eye, that scare over the eye is damage. And there is one accross the wing as well. I'd say damaged with MS64 details.
Reasonable. Not shocked at all. Thought eye appeal might push it higher, but definitely within the realm of expectations. Seller is on drugs, with that price. I might have paid $100 for the toning, as it is a pretty coin, but $265??????????????
I would say that would be ther other option if they didn't give it a grade Ruben. I was debating the same, but thought they would deduct and net grade it the 63. Either grade would have been justified.
I would personally kind of like the coin at $66. It is a very pretty 63, if one can overlook the dings. No way for $265.
It actually looks to me that someone drove a screwdriver into it with a hammer. I'm sure that statement will make me every popular. I have peace dollars with much less damage than that that couldn't be slabeed
$66 is not out of line IMO. However, I wouldn't have a problem paying a premium for the tone on the obverse, just not a $200 premium. I would feel okay paying an additional $25-$30 for the tone. I kind of wonder how hard the graders worked to give it a grade with the major hits on both sides, and they might have been thinking too bad for those hits because this could be a 64 or 65 without them.
A coin damaged while in a mint bag? Really? This just in: Not all coins are pristine. Some gets hits and scratches through normal wear and some even while in mint bags, and that shouldn't preclude them from being graded, IMO. You guys amaze me sometimes, although I suppose by now it shouldn't....
I think they gave a pass because its a lustrous, pretty coin. Btw, I would not disagree with you paying a premium BU, its very pretty. Even with the reverse dings, if the face were clear I would say 65. Thanks again for posting it to let us learn. Chris
Hey there are bag marks and then there are shot gun pellet marks from a bank robbery with Dillinger. This is B not A
I agree BU. $66 is reasonable, plus another 30 or so for the toning--I probably would have gone the 100 buckaroos for it, as it is pretty. I didn't feel it was damaged--just some contact, as I said before. Without the contact, much higher. That is why I said 64 for PCGS, and higher in my opinion for details, luster and tone. I doubt seriously that anybody will hit the "buy now" for a $200 premium--certainly hope not.
Hmm - not a real fan of toned coins, but FWIW, there are other toned coins without this damaged. And then we can always dip it and fix the rust
But I can't adjust the grade for that. She was STABBED in the forehead. She is a symbol of abused women world-wide.
