I have an old version of Coin Elite and was going to upgrade to a newer version that will work with my WindowsXP. But be for upgrading I want some input from the forum. Any suggestions on what type of program to use? Lou
GDJMSP, thank you for the reply. It is a nice inventory program, I'll just have to buy the update for WindowsXp. It never hurst to ask you never know what new types of programs may be out there.
Im going to go and look at it. I recently purchased Coinmanage. Not a bad program. The support is terrible though.
Me, I just use Excel. It comes free with Windows nowadays and you can do anything you want with it to make a coin collecting program. Nice thing to remember about putting your coin information in something like Excel is you can transfer all your information to just about any computer in the world. Note questions like never heard of it. That would be whatyou would hear from most people. Unless your coin information can be transferred to another computer, any time, anywhere, Excel is the only way to go. I've found that while visiting relatives or friends in other states and there is a coin show in the area I can simply slip a 3 1/2 disc into a computer, print out what I may need, remove it and go on my merry way.
I use Excel as well and I am very happy with it. With exonumia, it depends upon the series as to how many fields and what type of data I need to have as input. To be honest, I have not looked into actual coin programs, but I suspect that they would not suit tokens as well as coins. As Carl says, Excel is free with windows, it is a fairly powerful program and can do many types of sorts/management. You can essentially have as many fields per coin as you like.
Most of those coin managing databases are nothing more than an access database with a frontend written in vb. Not worth my money since I already have access.
