Hard to tell from the photos. I would say no. Here are some toned cents for review: http://100greatestmatteprooflincolns.com/
If you hold a loupe to the lens of your camera and adjust your distance to focus in, and shoot the coin straight on rather than at an angle, it might be easier to see.
And shoot a close up of the date. From the photos and angle I see, I am not sure it is a small date. Jim
I wasn't either, but it is difficult to tell from those pics. It does look like my 70S large date though.
it not coming out in my light. thats the best i can do until tomorrow mornig. the reverse is still BU red.
Looks like a 70-s small date to me, but the photos are at a slighly tilted angle still so it's hard to tell. Nice find anyhow!
I think eveyone in this thread is missing the actual OP question. I dont think he is asking if he has a "70-s small date" or not. He is asking is we think this coin has rainbow toning or not.
thank you. i am sure about the differences between small and large dates. i know what variety it is. i have decided that i dont think i would call it rainbow. it has purple, blue, red, green, and golds, but not in a pattern that is particularly pleasing to the eye. more of a mottled pattern.
