THis one is pretty nice, and has a very low mintage, and great pop. Love the Reverse Proof. Big silver just does it for me! Only 100,000 mintage!

  5. Nice Reverse Proof Morgandude11! She is a beauty. I am also a fan of big silver. The big question though is: Will you still love her if she develops milk spots? :D. TC

Nice chunk of silver, ASEs are designed very nicely. But I have heard that PCGS MS70s often gets milk spots after awhile.

Yup, beauty! I hope she doesn't get milk spots...

Off topic: Does anyone else find PCGS's 25th label so much worse than NGC's?

That is nice mdude. I had no idea the U.S. had any reverse proofs. I bought the Canadian ones because I thought they were awesome.

Are those Canadians really considered RPs? They look a lot like the finish on Maples and wildlife bullion. I have seen Britannias I'd call RP.

Here is my 2006P reverse proof. Had this one for a bit. Have also owned Canadian and Aussie Reverse Proofs--they are nice, but sold them, as they don't hold value well (American coins can't be beat for that). This one had somewhat of a higher mintage at 250,000, but low pop in NGC PF 70

Topcat, only occasionally does that happen. I have heard of a few, but generally it happens almost immediately--this coin is a year old, so I am hopeful. :)

But what is point of acquiring a PF70 surely atleast 20% would have slabbed as such and decades down the road that number isn't going go down any further.

I would hardly call a population of 610 to be 20%. There were 100,000 proofs minted, and so far, PCGS has only certified 610 as PR 70. So, I'd bet that it will increase in value a lot. Besides,I like it. :) Good enough reason?????

I think that the pop report you posted is for ones in that holder, not the coin type. As they did many different holders on these.

when they first came out in '06 I really didn't like the reverse proofs. it was the first coin I sold from one of my sets. made a killing too. then i put the other set away and didn't really look 'till the 25th sets came out. they kinda grow on you because now i think they are OK. I'll get a couple of any more they come out with.

I think they're very cool. Like a Britannia, they're so shiny it hurts to look at 'em with much light.

That frosty field reminds me of what diamond dust might look like. Very nice. Congratulations.

As regards pop figures, that is for that particular coin, and not necessarily all of the 2011 P PR 70 field. However, the total pop is less than 1% having been slabbed. So, it is comparatively rare--not saying it is an 1893s MS 65, but certainly a valuable and desirable coin. If you don't like it, don't buy it. :) I do like it, and know that all of those low mintage proof eagles have appreciated nicely, and will continue to do so.

Don't have access to PCGS's pop report but NGC show's the following:

That is basically 10% of the total population in a 70 holder just from NGC. And 18.6% of the population graded by just them. So I don't know where your 1% comes from?
I'm betting more then half have been graded already.

But it is a wonderful coin and I own a few.

Any idea of how many sets were sent in for grading and how many still remain in the wild?
