    Hey,

I've been selling coins on ebay lately but I can't get good, detailed pictures with the camera I have. what would some cameras to photograph coins be? and something that won't break the bank(under $200.)

I agree with Gbroke that the Nikon Coolpix line is a great bunch of Cameras. I got mine used for 30 bucks new it would be about 120.

It might not be as good as a $500 DSLR cam with a macro lens and axial lighting.

But it gets the job done.

Stlouis, do you use the macro function on your current camera to take coin pics?

tried to upload some pictures but they were all almost 3 times to big. The camera will act up and get some decent pictures everyonce in a while, but normally not super detailed.

If money is not a factor, go with a DSLR. I prefer Nikon's over the others.

I am fairly sure you can't get a dslr for under $200 like he mentioned in his post. ;)

I sound like a broken record, but i will say it again and again: The camera is not the most important part. Lighting is.

You know, I read his post and for some reason that part just didn't register for some reason. It was a long day at work for sure!

100% agreed. I shoot with a Nikon D7000 DSLR, but with the right lighting and setup, you could use a $50 camera and get great shots. My Nikon D70 still takes great shots after 7 years, you could probably find that DSLR for under $200 used :p. But I wouldn't go that route. Buy a $100 camera and spend time actually shooting, and you can learn more playing around taking pics than reading a 1,000 posts here about which camera, which lens, etc.
