Not as nice as the others but still a neat coin.

    I've never been to Bolivia

Those are some really nice Bolivia coins! I have nothing like them in my collection.

Every time I see a Bolivia coin, I think about what it must have been like in Bolivia when the coin was minted. In the early 1800s the country first gained independence & I'm sure the mines were continuing to pump out silver in record quantities. Remember the scene in Butch Casidy & the Sundance Kid when they get off the train in Bolivia (ca. 1900)? As I remember, the train just dropped them off in the sticks.

WOW... i always wanted a coin like that for my collection. I am a young collector and i have been trying to buy graded morgan dollars, except recently i wanted to find Bolivia coins, old roman coins, or shipwreck coins for my collection. I haven't come across many but the ones that i have seen are WAY to far out of what i can afford for a 15 year-old. Does anyone know of any coins that i could buy like the one above that are graded by NGC or PCGS at a price where i won't be spending all of my life savings? Thanks

    I don't own one yet.

Slabbed specimens will probably be in higher grades & higher priced.

I believe the Bolivia 8 Reales are available raw in Fine condition for about $50 and in VF for about $100. You should probably purchase from a reputable dealer as opposed to Ebay. Obviously the goal is to get a problem-free real coin. If you find a good candidate, I hope you will post it here for the expert's comments.

For original surface, problem free coins you might pay a little more than that but not much. You might have to hunt for a while as most do have some sort of problem. Not surprising though for coins that old who saw so much use!
