Hi all! Is anyone planning on going to the show this weekend in Grapevine, TX? I've never been to this one but hear that it is pretty good even though it is small. Would love to hear from anyone that is planning on attending.
I am actually considering going down there, I live 32 miles from the border, so it probably wouldn't be that long of a drive...could you give me exact day and when it opens up? cause more than likely I'll have to be an early bird there and leave before 12....
Pennycase...would be great to meet you if you go on Saturday as I think that's what our plan is. Below is a link with times and directions. http://coinshows.com/grapevine_gdp.html
Cool deal, 9 am isn't that bad, will give me time to blow my money , I will more than likely be there. I'll send you a private message on how you can spot me.
So did you make it to the show? We were there from 10 until about noon. Overall is seemed to be a pretty good crowd. Joe had a great time & is more enthused than ever. I asked him what he likes to collect the most and his responses were "square money, money with holes and errors". Needless to say we picked up some fun stuff for him. One of the things about this hobby that never ceases to amaze me is how generous and excited the dealers and other collectors are when it comes to kids. Everyone's kindness only served to fuel Joe's enthisiasm. He wasn't the only one who walked away from the show happy. I found some goodies as well and left with a pretty light wallet
I couldn't make it my car is gonna go to the shop tommrow, i'm lookin at 500 dollars or more to fix it, I asked anybody and everybody if they wanted to go lol.
The shows have a nasty habit of relieving you of all discretionary cash, don't they Robin? I always love coins and kids, and am too amazed when I witness a dealer with a child. I carry around some Ikes and pass them to a kid (6-14) who is at the shows. Some look at me like I have a third arm, but those are the precocious ones. The rest are thrilled and genuinely excited about their gift. Glad you had fun, and better luck next time, Pennycase. Tough break!
