It's an auction so the start price is irrelevant.
I'd guess it will sell for around $4k.

The surfaces are horrible and the color is artificial. I don't even want to see the rims.

The only thing going for it is it's genuine.

Despite the problems, looks like an honest enough piece - depending on price.

Considered it for a second, but nope! If it sold right this second for $1500... then maaaaybe due to nostalgia always finding its buyer in spite of history and condition. But the X-Jewelry unfortunately turns it into spot times 3 to 4 tops for nostalgia sake, and the fact this is a fairly good looking X IMHO. Moreover, from the looks, I bet it weighs in at 8.6 - 8.7 opposed to the 8.75 it's supposed to be.

Friendly bets without going over? My guess: $3212.00. Like I said, "Nostalgia always finds its buyer." Even still at this level will only push out to 2013 Red divide 2 to 2.5 if it's lucky.

Up to $1,025 with 4 days still remaining. The price won't be so low when it's over with.

Well to me it's less than a quarter ounce of gold so I'm not in the race. Some should be melted IMO.

This is your correct answer, that it is only a 1/4 oz. IMHO, That and the fact it is only .91 fine gold as well. So the gold buyers only won't fight over it,. It stated to be an AU50 with the added notation "Details" but the book puts that at a $5,000 coin.

In these times I would be surprised if it went over about $2200 or so. A real buy would be $1250.00 But you have to want it even at that, not a premium condition coin, so it is harder to turn over when coins return to high flyers again, That is when people want the higher quality for the most part. if this was an MS63 or MS64 the skys the limit.

If I wanted to buy and hold for a few years I might chase it up to $1500 or so myself...

But I have plenty to pay for these next few months with the addition on my house I have been working on and 1600 sq feet of driveway still to pour..

Verified. Only my bet for a final sell price is higher:

My experience with eBay is it always finds that "I gotta have it" 2 people that will be willing to duke it out in spite of its quality.

We will know in a couple of days.

I'm inclined to agree that $2200 or so should be the most that would ever sell for. And I'd never pay even that much for that coin. It has more issues than just being ex-jewelry.

But since it's on ebay, anything is possible when it comes to the final price.

Looks like its been hit with sandpaper.... ugly coin :*( in that I don't prefer the eye appeal, but the piece as far as its "history" is neat. Then again, I could never afford it, so the point is moot to me.

$4300.00... WOW! Now that is saying a lot for rarity in spite of condition...

Or more speaking towards the mentality of Ebay shoppers. Was the blue light rotating over this coin?
