Since your not 18 get your dad to sign up on Heritage....that is what I did.
Also---sometimes even though its not "cool" to have a slabbed coin sometimes its best....I would never ever suggest you buy a 1909-S VDB raw becasue there are sooo many fakes...its best to sometimes go slabbed.....

The only thing I can think of is that it is documented somewhere that the 1901-S's were melted down in a large quantity enough to make the population about the same. Either that or one person goofed and everyone else is just copying his work. :hammer:

Maybe some of the more knowledgeable forum goers can enlighten us.

    Might I say something here....
It is never ok to lie about something....not even to get a user name on Heritage.
When someone lie they just lost alot of creditability....if someone can't believe you about your age why should they take your word for a coin, or grade, or anything....?
There is a thing called ethics---and in the coin world that is a must...collectors need it just as bad as Grading Companies and Dealers---companies like SGS IMHO don't have too many if any ethics....also when a young collector lies and doesn't have ethics it goes bad on ALL of the Young Collectors....it gives us a bad name....the older guys wonder if they can trust us....and that is a good question....can they? At times the answer is no but it should always be YES.

Yes there are coin shows in Boston....but there might be some closer....you would just have to watch....ask dealers in your town if they know of any coin shows coming up...

Speedy-while I don't endorse lying I don't consider giving a false age to access a free internet resource comparable to what SGS or some other crooked dealer does for profit motives..
I would venture the only reason Heritage wants that info is for marketing purposes; frankly I don't see the harm. That being said I agree with you about ethics.

MorganDollar13, If you don't like having your coins slabbed, you can crack them out of the slabs. I personally like slabs, but I have cracked a few of them to put the coins in Dansco albums. Just do a search on the forums for threads about cracking them without damaging the coins.

The coin show idea is a good one. Here are some show in the MA area. Maybe one of these will close to you.

7/23 Westford, 8/6 Dedham, 8/13 Auburn, 8/13 Waltham, 8/27 Westford. If any of these shows are close to you let me know and I'll post the address.

But it isn't just to get the resource...when you sign up for Heritage you can bid or anything.....there are laws with bidding and internet auctions therefor they must have a 18 year age limit.

OK,didn't realize that about Heritage,in that case i do agree with you about giving a false age.
I get most of my coins from local dealers, the mint and a few internet stores but don't use E-bay or the other online auction sites.

I'm smart enough not to bid on anything on the internet unless I have my parents permission
