http://www.ebay.com/itm/180868945173?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649 What would you grade this? I see notable wear on Lady Liberty but the date is clear and background is good.
Starting in 1925 the Mint recessed the date because it was wearing off too quickly. That's why the date on that coin stands out so well in spite of the overall wear.
I'd almost say AG to G4. There's just too much wear on Lady Liberty, only a small portion of the Shield details are there and the Eagle on the reverse has way too much wear with one wing with slight details in the center only. I wouldn't pay over melt value for this coin.
And I just noticed it's gone beyond melt value in price. If you aren't bidding on this coin already, I'd say skip it, go on to the next one.
So what is the overall rating? I am getting AG to G which I thought but others are saying G to VG? I think these coins look better:
I always distrusted a seller unless they had a few negatives, FWIW. It means they know well how to game the system otherwise.
I'd say at $6.50 is fine, only about a dollar more than melt, I just wouldn't go any higher than that.
