I recently learned that silver coins don't have the two tone sides I have 3 1965 Kennedy half dollars two of the coins are two toned the other looks like it might be silver. Are there and 65s that were made with the 64 blanks?
All 65-69 Kennedys are 40% silver. They usually have a somewhat gray line on the edge as opposed to copper.
it could be true, but to make sure is to weigh them. 90% should weigh 12.5 grams and 40% should weigh a gram less at 11.5 grams
I have several 65 Kennedy's and have read a bit about them, but I've never heard of a 90% silver 65. There is an SMS 64 though, very rare and worth thousands. Not much help I guess, but I think you'll find it to be 40% silver. Billy-t
I have seen 64 dimes and quarters on clad planchets and 65 dimes and quarters on silver planchet so in theory it could be possible to have a 65 half on a 90% silver planchet. As mentioned the weight would be the simplest test and should be between 12.25 and 12.75 grams if it is 90% silver. A 40% half should weigh no more than 11.9 grams.
