Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

It is a tossup for me. Do I give it to my offspring when them little devils come (preferably when I am married and have a job) or do I have a friend sell it and donate it all to charity?

I don't have any kids yet, nor am I married, nor do I even have a girlfriend. But, when I do get all of that, I'll probably pass it on to my kids.

eh - you'll swap them for a used minivan once your wife has kids.

ya, probably, but I can at least try and be optimistic until then. :p

  7. Why be bothered with something you will have no control over.

Ill enjoy mine as long as i can then the wife and kids can do with it as they like.

I have control over what happens to mine. I plan on cashing out most of it in the next 5-7 years to buy more inconme producing property and live well and have fun with the money. never get rid of it all so the youngsters will end up with some I guess. I have been trying to get them to invest in gold & silver bullion and numismatic coins for years. if they choose not to I'm not going to leave them all of mine.

  9. It is all going to my kids as well and will happen in the most tax avoidant way possible. TC

Mine will be sold if I have an invoice for the coin.
Anything without an invoice will be handed down.
It's a tax thing for me.

I do not know yet what I will do with my silver art bar collection when I get old since I do not have any children and I am not married. The only thing that I know is that I will continue to collect silver art bars because that I what I enjoy doing and it makes me happy to have some shiny pretty silver to look at/fondle. At my current age of 38 years old, there are other factors that I do not know yet if/when I get "old" such as 1.) Will I still have the passion to collect when I am "old", 2.) The size of my collection at the time that I get "old", and 3.) Personal demographics (i.e. the remote possibility of getting married and/or fathering children later in life).

Stuff is just "stuff" ... coins included. I'm hoping to sell most everything I own before I die and use the money to experience life. I'm under no illusions that my family is anywhere near as interested in any of my stuff as I am. I'm sure they'd rather have the money. So I'll sell it all as it becomes unnecessary or useless to me. But realistically, I'll probably keep some coins and bullion as an insurance policy against an extra long life.

More than likely, I'll wander around the house wondering where in the heck I put it! HMMMMM.gif

The wife will remind me of my "secret" hiding spot. Finger Tapper.gif

I'll find it and then put it somewhere thats easier to remember.

I will sell my collection, if my kids are interested in the coins they can bid at auction against other collectors. I want my coins to go to people who will appreciate them the most, not be locked away and forgotten about in my kids safe deposit box because they don't want to sell dad's collection.

It's called "Life insurance". Already have vehicles a wife and a kid. They have no bearing on the collection either.

lol Yeah, I've thought about this. I have 4 dial combos (with varying turn directions) and a 6 digit keycode in my head. Maybe it'll help keep me sharp.

maybe I should start a new thread but how will you preserve them? How long will a PR70 ultra cameo stay that way? Is it expected to corrode or do you need to have a temperature and humidity control environment?
My 1981 proof set is getting that corrosive haze and I don't know if PCGS Lucite holder would really last for 100 years.

Even this $350,000 1975 no s dime doesn't look too well preserved.
