They are indeed Series 1988A, but they were actually printed in '91 (as seen in the link below). I suspect that's what Clorox meant. http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f1988as.html Those are some awesome finds!
got these the other day... first one is from a run of 640,000... the second, well, i think the number is cool.
No link needed t-bud. I know what he meant. Where in my post do I question when the notes were printed? Nowhere. All I said was that they were series 1988A (which they are) and that that particular series happens to be a fav of mine. I am well aware that a notes series date, has little to do with when it is actually printed.
Found this in a FRB strap today. This note has several cool attributes in one, it is a 1981 E-C mule and comes from an uncut sheet. The cutting isn't as noticeable in person as it is in the scan. Overall, this is a pretty nice find and 1981 was also the first series to have uncut sheets made available for sale to the public.
Oh well it seemed to me that you were questioning why he put 1991 and correcting it. My bad for trying to help, I guess.
Rcv'd a 295 note in change last week. Not really picture worthy but cool nonetheless. My 2nd so far. G 64377723 N
Nice notes for face value. I like the abaility to walk into a bank and cherry pick older notes for face value.
I picked up 25 series 2003A $2 bills from the Philadelphia District in CU, Any idea of the value on these? Thanks
They're worth face value today. Some people like myself are stockpiling up CHCU consecutive singles from Series 2006 and earlier only to hope that they'll gain value in the future. And I mean future as in 30 years+.
Went through 1,000 singles yesterday and I found: 3 stars including a 2009 A-*. For 1995s I found a B-P, B-Q, B-R and a B-W in AU condition as well as an F-V and a L-V. I also found a 1988A I-J and a 1985 from the L-H block.
Okay, I'll start contributing to this thread just as Russell is. Today I went through $400 I'm singles and I found a 1988 BD, a 1993 LH, 1995: FM, FR, and an XF DE. I also grabbed a 2006 $1 L00033200F trinary. I started my day by picking up a 1985 $20 BP, a 1985 $5 AA, 1995 $5 LF (one of my needed blocks), and I ended my day with my cousin giving me a 1995 $20 BC that he has been saving for a couple months as his "good luck twenty". Now I shall harvest it's good luck. In addition, I have found some more of the 1995 $1 blocks I needed in the past few days that I haven't been able to get on here and write about: BW, FT, and FM. I'm surprised that I haven't been able to find a $1 star in days! Usually, I'll find a minimum of 3-4 per strap of 100 singles but it appears that I've wiped all of my banks clean, haha. Not bad but nothing screamingly awesome, just another average day. I'd call the highlight of the day that 1988 BD. It's tough, for some reason, for me to find 1988 $1's. I find them here and there but they're definitely by no means common or easy to come by. -tbud
I failed to mention the 1995 $5 BB that I picked up from my teller yesterday morning. It is my first 1995 $5 from an eastern district (I have as far east as Atlanta) which is good to have variety.
Yesterday I bought 500 singles and didn't find much of anything. There were no stars and no pre-1999s save for a well-worn 1988A L-N. Today's results were much improved. I bought 500 more singles and found 2 stars and 3 notes that I feel are worth a scan. They are a nice 1969D B-A, a 1974 L-B in crisp XF condition and a crisp and high-grade 1995 L-W. I am quite happy with today's results and it proves you never know what you're going to find in those straps.
I picked up a few old notes today. I usually crh but ask for notes sometimes. $20 1934c well circulated $10 1950d great condition $5 1950a great condition $1 1957b well circluated $1 1969d great condition $1 1981 great condition
picked up 37 $2 red seal notes, including 2 1928 (series F & G) Any ideas on what to look for? Value (both for with & without writing on the 53's, the 28's both have some writing on them. Thanks.
Do you usually ask for $2s when you get halves? I don't usually ask, but I'll take them if they offer them to me.
No, these were offered, and I wasn't even getting halves. The tellers in my local branch know that I am on the lookout for interesting items.
